Linzess (Linaclotide) Capsule is a prescription medication used to treat irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C) and chronic idiopathic constipation (CIC) in adults. It is also used to treat functional constipation (FC) in children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 years.

Linaclotide, the active ingredient in Linzess, is an amorphous, white to off-white powder that is slightly soluble in water and aqueous sodium chloride (0.9%). The medication is available in the form of capsules containing linaclotide-coated beads in hard gelatin.

The recommended dosage of Linzess for adults with IBS-C is 290 mcg orally once daily .For adults with CIC, the recommended dosage is 145 mcg orally once daily or 72 mcg orally once daily based on individual presentation or tolerability. For children and adolescents aged 6 to 17 years with FC, the recommended dosage is 72 mcg orally once daily

It is important to take Linzess on an empty stomach at least 30 minutes prior to the first meal of the day. The capsule should not be crushed or chewed, and should be swallowed whole with water
